The odds of hitting a hole in one for an average golfers are 1 in 12,500 and is by no means an easy accomplishment for anyone stepping foot onto the links. When and if a golfer scores his first ace the process involves a lot of celebration. First the situation seems unbelievable; the foursome jumps up and down on the tee box and usually ends the day buying rounds of drinks for the clubhouse in celebration. From that point on the golfer has a story to tell for years to come. Now take the greatness of that situation and repeat it two days later, this is exactly what happened to Jim Voss when he scored his first hole in one on Tuesday then another ace on Thursday.

Voss, a Michigan native, spends his winters in Hudson, Florida and has partial golf membership at River Ridge Golf Course in New Port Richey, Florida. Voss’s first hole in one was on number 9, a par 3 95-yard hole using a 9 iron. Number 9 is a short hole but by no means an easy par 3. The green lies behind a sand trap so the foursome was unable to witness the ball going in the hole but found it in the cup when they traveled down to the green. The second hole in one, just two days later, was on a longer par 3, playing 132 yards, Voss used his 8 iron. Voss did get to see this ace as hit landed about 3 feet from the hole and dropped right into the cup. Voss is known around the course as a great golfer and two aces in 48 hours further proves his great abilities! Congratulation to Jim Voss!

Birdies for Babies: Pros Swing for March of Dimes!

The Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Club in La Jolla, California is putting a new twist on the last two days of the tournament in order to benefit the March of Dimes. The March of Dimes is an organization that focuses its attention to research and education to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Farmers, a leading fund-raiser for the March of Dimes set up a program called “Birdies for Babies” that was able to get the professional’s involved in raising money for a good cause. During the third and the final round of play on January 30th and 31st Farmers Insurance Group donated $100.00 for every birdie, $1,000.00 for every eagle, and $100,000.00 for every hole in one made by the professionals.

CEO of Farmers Insurance Group, Bob Woudstra, believes very strongly in the March of Dimes Foundation and was quoted “to be able to combine great golf and an even better cause is a true hole in one for all of us at Farmers.” Farmers is the second largest contributor to the March of Dimes for fundraising. In 2009 the insurance company raised over $4.8 million!

The Birdies for Babies was a huge success at Torrey Pines this year, in total the company raised $60,800 just based on the pro’s work alone. Overall there were 528 birdies and 8 eagles. Since none of the professionals scored an ace that day Farmers regardless pledged $100,000 in the name of Nick Watney, the 2009 champion.

Beating the Odds- One Round, Two Aces, Same Foursome!

When Julian Williamson and Graham Young started their round last week they never expected such excitement! The two headed out on Carolina Country Club with two other golfers to play the same course they had played many times before. It seemed like a normal round of golf, until they arrived at the back nine. The excitement started on hole number 11 at Carolina, a 150 yard par 3. Williamson hit an 8-iron to come up short, about six inches from the hole, after making contact on the green the ball rolled the short distance directly into the cup. The foursome was ecstatic, everyone was able to see the ball hit the green and roll straight into the cup! Spirits were up as they continued on and two holes later, on number 13 the 188-yard hole, Young hit a 4-iron straight at the hole. Similar to Williamsons shot, the ball landed in front of the hole and rolled right in.

Both visible hole in one shots by two different people in the same foursome! US Hole In One found that the odds of an average golfer hitting a hole in one in a single round is about 1 in 3,125 however two people in the same foursome is quite a feat! For both golfers this was their second career ace and with handicaps of 5 and 6 these two golfers look like they may have more holes in one in their future. On Young’s first hole in one he actually won a Buick and hopefully for his third ace he will be able to receive another prize! Congrats Julian and Graham!

394 Yard Hole In One!

What’s the world’s longest hole in one on record? US Hole In One was able to discover that, back in July of 2002 in Colorado, one man drove the ball 517 yards on a par 5 hole and made a hole in one! Now the following story doesn’t qquite match up to the 500+ yard ace, however Tim Dougherty has a lot to brag about with his almost 400 yard hole in one.

Dougherty, an American from Iowa, was visiting New Zealand and playing Shandon Golf Club when the hole in one occurred. He hit a driver on the second hole, 394 yards, to score an ace on what is known as one of the courses hardest holes. Dougherty did not see the ball go in the hole, he describes the flight of the ball as right to left and the group searched for the ball for about five minutes before deciding to look in the hole. Needless to say the group was in shock and amazement of the incredible shot.

Dougherty is known around the club house as a big hitter and his 6 ft 3 inch build helps with the power behind his drives. There was not much doubt that Dougherty could hit the ball that far but as the pro at the course Glenn Naylor describes, “to hit it 394 yards and get it within the confines of a hole is pretty amazing.” This was Dougherty’s first ace and it looks like with his power there will be plenty more to come!

Our Hole In One New Years Resolution

So dear readers, what is your New Year’s resolution? Is it to become a better person, or is it to become a better golfer? 2009 has been an interesting year. It saw the passing away of Michael Jackson and Brittany Murphy. It also saw the destruction of Tiger Woods’ false and squeaky clean image.

On the positive side of things, four golf major champions were rewarded for their stellar play in 2009. Angel Cabrera won the Masters. He was the last man standing, and the only one wearing the coveted green jacket after a three way playoff with Chad Campbell and Kenny Perry. Next up was the US Open where Lucas Glover’s ballstriking was second to none. Then came the British Open, where Stuart Cink came out on top, at the misery of Tom Watson. The PGA Championship ended the year as Y.E. Yang upset the tournament’s favorite, Tiger Woods.

There is one thing that we do know about 2009 and that is the fact that it was a good year for hole in one insurance. Will golf in 2009 be better than that in 2010 or will 2010 be better? Only time will tell.

What we do know is that the 2010 PGA Tour season will be exciting. Four Majors still have to be played which is a good thing. First the Masters in April, then the US Open at Pebble Beach in June. This will be followed by the British Open Championship in July which will be played at the home of golf, St Andrews. The PGA Championship will then be played at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin. All this proves that 2010 will irrefutably be a good golfing year.

Hopefully, there will be a lot of holes-in-one in 2010. Holes-in-one, as you all know, are pretty exciting to watch on TV. Will they be on long holes or short ones? Also, will there be multiple hole in one shots at a tour event like at the 2009 BMW Championship. Will Leif Olson do the unthinkable and make another hole in one?

One thing that you can definitely bank on is that Foresite Sports will keep doing what it does best. Our hole in one insurance is available in all states. YES IN ALL STATES! So don’t miss out. Whatever prize you would like to give out, Foresite Sports can make it happen. Also you wouldn’t want any aces to go unrewarded. That’s what happens when there is no hole-in-one insurance and it’s not for the best. Making a hole in one is a special accomplishment but doing that with the bonus of receiving a prize has to be better. So, if you want to make the change, you can visit is online or you could call us at 888-882-5440. We really look forward to working with you.

What Do I Do If I Have to Reschedule My Hole In One Insurance?

Some of our clients out there are lucky enough to have beautiful, 80 degrees and sunny weather year round however most of us aren’t so lucky! Golf.com has assembled a great list of golf courses from Florida to California and even Hawaii that are just waiting to wash away those winter blues.

Doral Golf Resort and Spa, located just 12 miles from the beach in Miami, is an exquisite, top-rate course. Though quite challenging with its often windy conditions from the ocean breeze and more than 100 bunkers, golfers who have played there before suggest you brush up on your sand shot. Other than that, what can be better than playing a course where so many famous golfers have once played? Doral Golf Resort’s course, The Blue Monster, has also recently been named an official TPC course.

Considering the West Coast? Palm Springs, CA, is home to Escena Golf Club. Escena recently re-opened in 2009 and was remodeled during the two years that the club was closed. There is now a brand new 16,000 square foot clubhouse for you to relax in after a long day on the course. One of the best parts about Escena though is its affordable pricing and playable course. The back drop isn’t too shabby either, set in the beautiful mountains of the Coachella Valley.

Hawaii also boasts a plethora of fabulous golf courses, some well-known while others are considered to be clandestine jewels of the Aloha State. The Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort, in Kapalua, Maui, is best known for the annual winners only PGA opener. The tournament will take place from January 4-10, 2010 and golfers will be competing for their share of $5.6 million. Puakea Golf Course, a less known course, is located in Lihue, Kauai. Last year Golf Magazine ranked Puakea #14 on their list of best courses in Hawaii. Why? This is because there is some hole in one activity there. Recently Pac Sports and Matson hosted the 3rd Annual Mount Carmel School Tournament at the Talofofo Onward Golf Course. Sounds like an interesting place to play some golf.

Well during this tournament two lucky golfers made holes in one. According to the Pacific News Center Peter Yu shot his hole-in-one on the 14th hole winning $7600 in gas and $2400 in cash from SPPC. Then less than 30 minutes later, Mike Castro sank his hole-in-one on the 2nd hole and won a brand new Toyota Venza from Atkins Kroll. Wow guys! $7600 in gas should last for a long time and driving a new Toyota sounds great. All because of one golf shot? The tournament director also mentioned that not only were there two holes in one, but there were also 4 near misses that could have easily resulted in other golfers winning tens of thousands of dollars.

The main question is how are all these holes in one rewarded? After all tens of thousands of dollars is a lot of money. These giveaways are only possible if you have hole in one insurance. Affordable hole-in-one-insurance is what every wise tournament director looks for. Foresite Sports provides this hole-in-one insurance so we are always working round the clock to make sure that most golfers who make holes-in-one are rewarded with cash prizes, cars or even a vacation. The good news is that you are a hole-in-one away from being one of those golfers. All you have to do is tell your tournament director to work with us. That way the members at your club will be getting what they deserve. The Star Tribune of Minneapolis, Minnesota reported on their website that “on July 2 at area courses, at least 10 golfers had holes-in-one and had them reported to the Star Tribune.” The report goes on to say that “for some it was their first and for others it was a second (or third) time around. Two came at the same course, on the same hole.” The Star Tribune managed to get 9 out of the 10 people to describe their indelible experiences.

The first account comes from Bob Steffen who aced the 175th 8th hole at Dwan golf course. He used a 6 iron and he said:

"I hit it a little short of the hole, but it rolled up on the back lip," Steffen said. "From where I stood, I thought it had stayed there. But then I got closer and I saw it was gone. It was in the hole.

The next stroke of excellence came from Lorraine Neuberger’s purely struck 5 wood shot made its way into the 16th hole at Meadowbrook Golf Course.

"Pure luck," she said. "It's nothing to brag about. If I was a championship golfer, maybe I could consider it skill, but for me, I just get lucky."

The article then took us to Wayzata Country Club where Linda Kiernan made a hole in one on the 17th hole. Her account was a follows:

"I saw it tracking toward the hole and, amazingly, it went in. I'm like 'Thank you Jerry, thank you!'"

Jerry is her loving husband who passed away. "He's why I learned to play," she said.

Lauryn Job and Scott Machut are next up. Lauryn’s ace came on the 97 yard 17th hole at Medina Golf & Country Club. She used a 52 degree wedge to get the job done. Scott followed suit on the 17th hole. His 9 iron from 132 yards had only one destination…the hole! "It's just fantastic," he said.

Next up is Doug Dehn whose hole in one came at Shadowbrooke Golf Course’s 9th hole. He hit a 5 wood from 160 yards.

Nowadays tour pros are booming their drivers over 300 yards. But who says you HAVE to hit it that far. Jake Halbert hit a precise driver on a 234 yard par 3. So precise that it went into the hole. His account to the Star Tribune :
"The wind was strong, I promise," Halbert said, tongue planted firmly in cheek.

The final two holes in one came from Tony Gutterman and Paul Nelson. Tony hit a 215 yard fade with a purely struck 5 iron whilst Paul Nelson’s hole in one is being called the mystery ace. This is because no one has been able to get his account. Now that was an action packed day!Our congratulations go out to all these people.

On a closing note, make sure you tell your tournament director about us. Foresite Sports is the name, affordable insurance is the game.

A Couple of Tips for Better Par 3 Scoring

Most high handicappers dread par 3 holes. Foresite Sports doesn’t have the same perspective though. We love holes in one. Why? Mainly because we provide hole in one insurance and love to see people occasionally make one. The rewards are great too. We’ve helped give away grand prizes that include: brand new cars, vacation packages and $100,000 cash prizes.

So this time we are going to give you some simple tips that will improve your ballstriking. The first is to ALWAYS check your alignment. They say, “What’s the point of firing a gun if it’s not aimed at anything.” Well if you want to get that first hole-in-one it helps if you aim right. So make sure that u adopt a stance where your feet, hips and shoulders are square.

The next tip addresses your grip. Ben Hogan, one of the best ball-strikers of all time, firmly believed that good golf starts with a good grip. A flawed grip will cause unwanted hooks and fades that will result in your tee shot going way offline. He made a lot of holes-in-one so he knew what he was talking about. Some of the world’s best players idolized him.

The world’s best iron players all have a common trait. At impact their hands are always ahead of the ball. High handicappers try to scoop the ball up in the air and their hands tend to be behind the ball at impact. This causes them to top the ball or hit it fat. Instead they should start their downswing by shifting their left hip if they’re right-handed or their right hip if they’re left-handed. This should allow them to hit down on the ball and compress the ball. Another way to think of compression is to squeeze the ball into the ground with your clubface at impact.

These tips might not get you a hole-in-one, but they will hopefully improve your iron play and shave some strokes off of your game. We are Foresite Sports and we do care about. A toddler recently did the unthinkable. According to the Sun Sentinel in Florida Alex Heard made his first hole in one. The article on www.sunsentinel.com says that, “it was a hot and muggy afternoon in Boca Raton, and after playing six holes, Diane Heard asked her son Alex if he wanted to quit so they could go home and take a swim.”

However the persistent youngster convinced his mother to keep going. What happened next is described in the same article as follows:

“Alex's father, Rick, teed up the ball, and Alex took out his driver, looked at the flag about 80 yards away sitting up on a hill, and swung. The contact was solid, the ball went straight and bounced up the hill, onto the green and rolled into the hole.”

"A lot of screaming," is how Alex remembers the moment, as mom, dad and Alex jumped around on the tee.

"He's pretty accomplished for his age, but I never expected that, not this soon," Rick Heard said.

“Alex, who is 3 feet, 5 1/2 inches tall and weighs 40 pounds, was destined to take up the game, since his father is a PGA teaching professional.”

Another interesting thing that we learned from reading this article is that, “Alex was 4 years and 223 days old, with Guinness listing an age of 4 years and 195 days for Christian Carpenter, who did it in North Carolina in 1999.” Now that’s amazing!

Now we move to the world of professional golf. This week’s big event is the WGC Bridgestone Invitational where the best of the best will be going at it. Tiger Wood’s, Phil Mickelson and many others are competing. Make sure you don’t miss it. Another thing that you shouldn’t miss is a chance at running a flawless golf event. For the best in hole in one insurance and golf outing services you should chose Foresite Sports, where we put the customer first. Our telephone number is 888-882-5440. Granted the odds are against you and luck is a big factor, following these steps will give you the best chance possible.

Firstly we advise you get a couple of lessons from a PGA Professional. This professional will help you improve your golf swing. The fundamentals of a good golf swing should never go unnoticed. First your alignment should be spot on. This means that your feet, hips and shoulders should be aligned parallel-left to your target. The best way to imagine this is to think of two parallel railway tracks. Your feet are on the inner track and your target line is the outer track. Once you align yourself correctly you are closer to making that hole-in-one. The professional will then teach you how to make a powerful backswing and through swing.

Next your clubs should be fitted to your body type. A bad carpenter does blame his or her tools but when it comes to golf your “tools” have to match your body. That way you can stay in your posture and send that little ball into the cup for a hole-in-one.

Visualization is important! You need to see that hole-in-one happening and yourself driving away in that brand new car, thanks to the presence of hole-in-one insurance. That should make for a smooth drive with your hair blowing in the wind. Speaking of hole-in-one insurance, where do you plan on getting it from? Well Foresite Sports is your best bet. Our hole-in-one insurance is affordable and definitely provides the prizes that you want. In the past we have given away numerous BMW’s, vacation trips and cash prizes. If you want to know more you could always look at our website.

Golf In The Olympics

It was more than 112 years ago that golf was played in the Olympics. The game was played at the 1900 and the 1904 Olympic Games but then was voted out of the Olympics by the supporting membership. Things are changing, though. On Thursday, August 13th, the official committee voted to include golf, along with Rugby Union in the upcoming 2016 Olympic Games.

The ruling is not completely official yet. The International Olympic Committee must make a full vote and that will not happen until the October meeting scheduled to be held in Copenhagen.

How does golf get played in the Olympics? The currently proposed situation involves two, 72 hole tournaments. One will be for men, one for women. There will be 60 competitors in each of the events. To get there, the top 15 players in the world will automatically be qualified to enter the Olympics. From there, competitions will seek out the other players. And, to accommodate the events, the major golf schedules will be changed to meet the needs of the Olympics, to ensure all of the world's top players are available to play.

Whether they do play or not is up to the players. There is already talk about who will qualify and some players have weighed in on their likely decisions with many saying that they will wait and see. Tiger Woods commented that he would likely play, if he had not retired by that time. He will be in his early 40's at the time of the Olympic Games. It is doubtful that the Olympics would include a hole in one prize as a component of the competition but we at Foresite Sports are keeping our fingers crossed!

What are the Odds of Hitting a Hole In One?

A question often asked…just how hard is it to hit a hole in one on a golf course? By some estimates, on any given par 3 hole, the odds of hitting a hole in one is 1 in 12,500 attempts. Those odds may look like they are too high to be considered good, but when you consider the some of these other facts; you will see that those odds really do look good.

For example, the odds of hitting an ace on a designated hole, by an average player, are 1 in 12,500. However, the likelihood of hitting two holes in one during a single round jumps to 1 in 26,045,834. The odds of hitting back-to-back hole in ones, those odds are even higher at 1 in 156,250,000.

On the other hand, the professional golfer has much better odds. The professional golfer's odds of hitting a hole in one on a designated hole are just 1 in 2,500. That means if you have a full field of professional golfers playing in a tournament, which equates to 144 golfers in the event, then the odds of hitting a hole in one by someone in the field are just 1 in 22.

What does this all mean to you? If you are a golfer, you can see just how much work (and time on the greens) it will take you to hit your ace.

For those considering the benefits of hosting a hole in one tournament or even a shootout, the good news is that these odds can work in your favor. However, even if you want to avoid the risk associated with such win, contact Foresite Sports to learn how this type of insurance can help you to sponsor an excellent event without the risks.

Hole in One Wins Man Car

The news out of Chippewa Valley is exciting. Mike Kell became a lucky man when he hit a hole in one on the golf course last week. Mr. Kell was playing at the United Way golf tournament that held at Lake Wissota Golf Course. On the 11th hole, he sunk the ball with just one shot and that meant he received the keys to a Subaru Impreza.

Mr. Kell is not new to golf, having golfed for the last 45 years. He has been retired from Kell Containers for ten years now and spends some of those days on the golf course. He has played in the United Way tournament almost every year since it first started some 21 years ago.

As he approached the 11th hole, Mr. Kell glanced over at the vehicle. The 159 yard, par 3 hole was not one he thought he could hit the hole at one at. He did not think about the prize as he stepped up. He has hit a hole in one before, at a different golf course. Mr. Kell only plays at the Lake Wissota Golf Course one time per year so he was unfamiliar with the hole.

The United Way employee at the event was Chuck Frenette, who has been involved in the tournament for some time. He has not seen anyone win the hole in one prize since the tournament first started.

Hitting a hole in one is celebration enough for most people, but to win a prize for doing so makes it that much better. If your organization is considering such an event, using Foresite Sports can help you to cover the costs of the vehicle or other prize your offer. This way, when someone does hit that ace, you don't have to worry about paying for it.

13 Year Old Whiz Kid Makes Hole In One at LPGA Event

Fox Sports recently reported that a 13 year old amateur golfer made a hole in one on in the first round of the CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge in Danville, California.
According to Fox Sports, Casie Cathrea earned her spot in the CVS Pharmacy LPGA Challenge in Danville, California, by finishing second in a Monday qualifier. She definitely didn’t stop there. She went on to ace the 165-yard 12th hole. "I hit a 5-iron," Cathrea said. I didn't really know it went in until my caddie talked to me about it."

The article then revealed that Cathrea is just a high school freshman. She is from Livermore, California, and is the second-youngest golfer to ever qualify for an LPGA Tour event. Nevertheless, she is no rookie when it comes to making holes in one. This was her third!

There was one disappointing aspect to it, she said. The tournament offers a car as a prize for a hole in one on No. 12, but she couldn't accept it without losing her amateur status. Anyways, she is most definitely a very talented young lady with a bright future. If she keeps this up, she could eventually be sponsored by a car company. Only time will tell though.

As for those of us who have never gotten a hole in one there is still hope. Maybe your first hole-in-one can be for a car. Just make sure that you inform the director of golf at your club about a company by the name of Foresite Sports. Answer: 50. Response: Are you kidding me??

The million dollar man has absolutely nothing on this guy! An Arizona golfer by the name of Dave Thomas has made 50 holes in one in his lifetime. A lot of people have played golf for so many years and never made a single one.

Apparently his first hole in one came in 1966 when Dave Thomas lined up an 8-iron at Orange Tree Golf Club, then known as the Century Country Club ,and took dead aim at the 140-yard sixth hole. According to Thomas, "I never saw it go in. I saw it going toward the pin, and we looked around for it and then we found it in the hole."

Thomas returned to that same hole three years later and did it again. Talk about being a smooth operator! Mr. Thomas immediately caught hole in one fever and has been making hole in ones for the last 30 years. Azcental.com’s report on him says that, “last month, he recorded his 50th career hole in one, acing the 162-yard second hole at Mountain Shadows Golf Course with a 7-iron.”

Another interesting thing is that, when his friends at the Tee Pee Mexican Restaurant, where Thomas is a regular, introduce him as ‘The guy with all the holes in one,’ he inevitably is asked how many he's made.

The writer of the article on azcentral’s website makes a good point when he states that, “It really isn't so far-fetched. Even at age 75, Thomas plays to a 5 handicap. He typically plays at least four days a week at Mountain Shadows, which has 16 par-3 holes. He's been a member since 1979 and has recorded 39 of his aces there. All of his aces have been verified by credible witnesses.”

We at Foresite Sports are flabbergasted. This is truly an amazing feat. We enjoyed reading about Mr. Thomas and we would like to turn your attention to the services that we provide. They might not be as spectacular as making 50 holes in one, but they are reliable, affordable and worth your time. We offer hole in one insurance and tournament sponsor signs for golf outings. They’re really young!

Lohud.com, a newspaper of New York’s Lower Hudson valley recently did an article on 13 year old John Longo. The youngster teed it up on the 112-yard sixth hole at Sunny Hill Golf Course and aced it without a problem. He used a wedge to get the job done. The article informs us that his father, Ron Longo, “was reading a book a week ago near the clubhouse at Sunny Hill Golf Course, a Catskill resort where the White Plains family has a lake house. He was recovering from surgery, and let the 13-year-old play with Christopher Medeot, a friend and hockey teammate from home.”

As soon as young John made the hole in one he called his father. Ron Longo’s account in the article was as follows:

"It was the first time I sent John on the course without me," Ron said. "It was a beautiful day, so I was sitting there reading a book when the phone rang. He was real excited, 'Dad, I just got a hole-in-one!' I thought it was a joke at first. I said, 'Put Chris on the phone.' And he was like, 'Mr. Longo, I swear to God it went in. John got a hole-in-one.' I couldn't believe it."

John was documented as saying:

"I've driven the green a couple of times, but I've never gotten close to the hole," said John, who has been playing for two years. "We called my dad, then went on to the seventh hole. We didn't celebrate too much because we didn't want to make a lot of noise. It was kind of funny because I looked at this plaque they have of all the holes-in-one before we played, and the first one was in 1968 on the same hole."

What’s even more interesting is that, according to the LoHud there have been three aces by three area middle school kids on three consecutive days last weekend (today being August 14). That holds so true to the title of this article. These youngsters are acing par 3’s all over the place. We congratulate them. Now, before we go, make sure you get your hole in one insurance with Foresite Sports. Visit our website, www.foresitesports.com to get the bigger picture. But, paying for these out of the funds brought in by most golf courses is not often feasible. The best route to take to offer this opportunity is to use Hole in One Insurance. Offered by US Hole in One, this type of insurance pays out if someone wins the prize so that your company does not have to do so.

The cost of using hole in one coverage is dependent on several factors including:

• The number of golfers at the event
• The distance of the Par 3 hole that will be used in the hole in one event
• And the value of the hole in one prize that you wish to give out to any winners of the contest

The more golfers, the more valuable the prize and the fewer yards away from the hole, the higher the cost is for this type of insurance.

It is important to note, though, that hole in one insurance is quite affordable even at the highest level. For example, let's say that you have 72 players and want to give away a $50,000 cash prize. You would pay US Hole in One just $727 to obtain this coverage.

When you consider the publicity for the event, the draw of bringing people into the golf course, the signups for memberships you receive, and so forth, this will likely pay for itself. To get more accurate figures, contact a US Hole in One contest consultant and learn more about hosting your event.

Righty & Lefty Hole In One!

Hitting a hole in one is incredibly difficult for anyone to do. Many of today's professional golf players never are able to hit even one. One man in Bowling Green, Ohio was lucky enough to hit not one, but two holes in one in the game. In addition, he hit them using both a right handed club and a left handed club. Interestingly, he says he is not much of a golfer!

The man, Ed Platzer of Bowling Green, was able to hit a left-handed hole in one in June of 2009. This adds to his previous right handed hole in one he hit some 15 years earlier. It may have been a long gap, but it was a very successful event.

What makes this story even more interesting is that the United States Golf Register has been unable to locate anyone else who has ever hit both a right handed and a left handed hole in one in the company's database. The United States Golf Register tracks holes in one across the country. Its database spans some 13 years worth of history.

Mr. Platzer says that he is a naturally left handed person but he learned to play golf using his right handed clubs mainly because he could not locate any left handed clubs during that time. he changed things up about four years ago when he found the left handed clubs he needed. He has been using those clubs since. Although he claims not to be a good golfer, this rare feat is one that will be historic for some time.

It doesn’t appear that Mr. Platzer won any prize for achieving either of his holes in one which makes me wonder why the tournament director at those events didn’t purchase hole in one insurance from a company like Foresite Sports. I’ll bet Mr. Platzer is wondering the same thing!

John Deere Classic

In another week of exciting golf on the PGA Tour, Steve Stricker managed to come out on top. According to pgatour.com, the players had to play 36 holes on Sunday due to a rain delay earlier in the week. However, this did not stop Stricker from producing a stellar performance.

Stricker started very slowly shooting an even par 71 in the first round. This was a pretty uneventful round that only had 2 birdies. He immediately had ground to make up as his colleagues were well under par. This would not be a problem as Stricker came out firing in the second round. He made 9 birdies, an eagle and a bogey on his way to a blistering 61(10 under par). With this he tied the course record and put himself in perfect position to win the tournament.

Stricker, as reported on the PGA Tour website, fired a a third-round 68 which he then followed with a 7-under 64 in the fourth round to finish at 264 for the tournament. That was good enough to give him his second PGA TOUR win this year and sixth in all, not to mention a heavy dose of momentum heading into the British Open to go with the 500 FedExCup points."I've just given myself a lot of chances to win," said Stricker onn the PGA Tour website, now second behind Tiger Woods in the FedExCup standings. "Some didn't go my way, and some have."

Local favorite Zach Johnson (64, 66), Brandt Snedeker (68, 65) and Brett Quigley (62, 67) all tied for second at 17 under. However the PGA tour website clearly stated that Stricker's biggest challenge, though, came from Tim Petrovic, who was in his group and was two strokes off the lead heading into the 36th and final hole of the day. But he hit the pond on No. 18 and double bogeyed the hole, leaving him at 16 under along with Matt Jones (63, 69) and J.J. Henry (66, 68). Second-round leader Darron Stiles (70, 71) finished at 14 under.

For all the people out there who use Facebook.com, we encourage you to become a fan of the PGA Tour. Even those more elite golf clubs are struggling to keep membership numbers high. Call it a sign of the times, where people are watching virtually every penny they spend. For many golf courses, shutting the fairways for good seems like the only option. Yet, some courses are trying something new in that they are offering high stakes contests to draw in people.

Individuals may need a little motivation to get back out onto the green. This can be accomplished through a golf related tournament or contest with a high payout. For example, hosting a $1 million shootout is definitely a way to draw golfers back into the game. A putting challenge can also work. Offering a large prize to those who are able to hit the very difficult shot is a great way to bring people in.

Golf courses do not have to cover the payouts even if there is a winner. Rather, they can use Foresite Sports. This company provides insurance to cover the event winnings so that the golf course does not have to. If the golfer does hit the hole in one, for example, they will collect the winnings from Foresite Sports rather than the golf course directly. The golf course is only obligated to pay a fee for using the insurance.

Courses that are in need of more regular golfers may wish to use this type of tournament to help raise awareness to membership discounts or green fee discounts to those who participate in the tournament or challenge. It is an excellent way to get people back into the clubhouse.

2009 British Open

This year's British Open Championship will be played at Turnberry's Aisla course. The tournament's website opengolf.com is proud to state that the Aisla course at Turnberry is "currently ranked as Britain’s number one golf course by two leading golf publications, and is consistently rated within the world’s best. Mackenzie Ross, was commissioned to redesign the Ailsa and it re-opened as the spectacular links you can see today in 1951." The course is a par 70 that is played over an intimidating 7204 yards. Links golf is very different to the type of golf that we play here in America. Players who cannot control their ballflight will be at the mercy of the wind.

We at Foresite Sports have chosen our two favorite holes on the Aisla course, courtesy of the course layout that is found on the Open Championship's website.

We start with the par 4 third hole that is 489 yards. It is called “Blaw Wearie” which means "Out of Breath." Now that's the type of hole that would suffocate any average golfer's chance of making a par. The hole description on the Open Championship website warns that this hole "will be your fate on a blustery day, because the wind here usually blows dead against. 27 yards have been added to the 3rd hole since the 1994 Open Championship, making this the longest par-4 on the Ailsa Course. Two new fairway bunkers have been added at driving distance and one greenside bunker has been filled-in and tightly-mown."

The next feature hole is the 17th hole which is a 559 yard par 5. According to the website, the locals call it the "Lang Whang" because a “Good Whack” is called for here to give yourself a reasonable chance of making the green in three. Furthermore, a new back tee has been constructed on the 17th to accommodate the changes to the 16th, lengthening the hole by 61 yards. Lastly to top it off, new approach bunkers and a new greenside bunker add to the challenge of the second shot. This will be a crucial finishing hole that could possibly affect the result of the tournament as there could easily be a two shot swing here.

Tiger Woods is a favorite to win but there are numerous others who could take the title. Who knows, maybe someone will be lucky enough to ace one of the par 3s. Holes in one are our specialty so we would be elated if you told the tournament director at your golf club about us. We offer hole in one insurance as well as insurance for other sporting events. Feel free to visit holeinoneinsurance.com for more information on hole in one insurance and interactivepromotions.com for information on the insurance that we provide for other sporting events. Have a great day and make sure you watch the British Open at Turnberry.
