Digital Caddies!

GPS systems for your car are one of the top selling Christmas gifts this past year. With convenient features that allow you to plot your route in the quickest amount of time and with the least amount of traffic, GPS devices are becoming more and more popular. Most new cars are actually made with built in systems right on the dashboard. Now imagine that kind of convenience when you’re out on the golf course! Seems unheard of but technology is breaking into the simple game of golf with GPS digital caddies. These systems are amazing and use satellite technology to track where your ball is in relation to the hole with exact distances and surrounding hazards! Not only are these portable machines small and easy to fit in your bag but they speed up your golf game since you avoid the process of trying to find a marker and determine your distance. These systems make a perfect gift for the golfer in your family but make sure you do your research!

There are a couple options for digital caddies, Golf Digest ranked the best of the best out there based on price and quality. The results for the best option is the Skycaddie SG5 making it extremely accurate with up to 40 reference points for every hole. It has a full color screen and database of maps for over 20,000 courses. The price for the Skycaddie SG5 is $430 with a small annual fee, Skycaddie also makes a cheaper model (about $150 less) that is also high quality but doesn’t have a color screen. Another option that is a little more affordable is the iGolf Neo which costs $150 dollars with a $35 annual fee. This system offers up to 16 hours or battery life on its rechargeable battery. The small and compact size is a big selling point for this product as well as the high quality ball tracking skills and large course database. No matter which system you decide on it will help in speeding up your game and hopefully drop some strokes. Cleary these products can’t guarantee a hole in one but it certainly can’t hurt!
