With Tiger Out, Villegas Is The Player To Watch

With Tiger Woods still out of the golf world, the new player making a strong name for himself is Camilo Villegas. Villegas, a Colombia native came to the US to play golf for the Florida State Gators. In the pro sports arena he is known for his long blonde hair and stylish outfit choices on the golf course. He also goes by the nickname “Spider-Man,” which came about based on his flexible low to the ground stance when reading his putts. In the last couple weeks Villegas has been at the top of this game.First he made a strong play for third place in the Phoenix Open after missing a short putt that kept him out of the winning group. Even more recently he improved his putting skills and was able to take the Honda Classic, his first PGA tour win since September 2008.

Camilo set himself up to take The Honda Classic going into the final round with a 3-shot lead over his competitors and started the final round strong, birding four out of the first ten holes. The back nine however was a different story; Villegas lost some of his focus and bogeyed three holes. The American Andrew Kim was on his heels on most of the back nine however with a couple of slip ups and bogey’s on the back nine, Villegas was able to keep his cool and secure his win by sinking a 19 foot birdie putt on the 18th. Overall he finished 2 under for the day and 13 under par overall with Kim finishing in second. No hole in one for Camilo in this event but we at Foresite Sports like his style!
